Stark County Sheriff’s Office Becomes First in Ohio to Implement Carbyne’s Next-Gen 911 Technology

Technology that helps Emergency Dispatchers Pinpoint Callers’ Location

(Canton, Ohio) – Stark County Sheriff George T. Maier is proud to announce the Sheriff’s Office in cooperation with the Stark County Commissioners installed Carbyne’s next-generation 911
technology into Stark County emergency services systems. This will make Stark County the first in Ohio to implement this innovative safety technology, which will enable real-time video streams with precise location tools to pinpoint citizens in danger.

The Sheriff’s Office has adopted Carbyne’s c-Lite, an easily integrated plugin. The cost-effective c-Lite platform is easy for Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) to implement and simple for dispatchers to use. c-Lite sits on existing systems and does not require PSAPs to replace current technology.
Carbyne’s c-Lite plugin will enable Stark County telecommunicators to receive device-based location for 911 and non-emergency calls, receive call-taker enabled video streams from callers, and instant message citizens in situations where verbal communication may not be possible.
Citizens can send video of their emergencies through smart devices, no app needed, helping first responders gain better situational awareness shaving crucial minutes off response and dispatch
times. In other Carbyne deployments, the use of video has reduced the number of medical dispatches by over 20%.

“We are committed to going above and beyond to ensure the safety of Stark County,” explained Sheriff Maier. “Every second counts in an emergency and this technology will provide dispatchers and our deputies with the ability to respond faster. I want to commend the Stark County Commissioners for seeing the value this technology has for all of Stark County.””

The first Carbyn technology station was fully installed and functional in the Stark County Sheriff’s
Office 911 dispatch center since August 30 th , 2019.
